We are very excited to announce that we have new Mini Makers classes available!
Thursdays
3:00PM and 4:45PM
Miss Anayantzin Sanchez has joined the art/work/place team as the Mini Makers instructor for our new Thursday Mini Makers classes. She will also be teaching on Fridays and Saturdays.
Educated at Humboldt University, Miss Anayantzin graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Major in Liberal Studies Elementary Education and a Minor in Studio Art. Her extensive work experience with children of all ages and her warm, kind personality makes her a great addition to the art/work/place team. Please join us in welcoming her.
We had a wonderful 2019 and are looking forward to an even better 2020! We hope that this year brings countless joy and blessings to everyone!
SHAPE: A flat area defined by its edges or an outline.
GEOMETRIC: Shapes that have names and can be constructed with a compass and/or ruler.
ORGANIC: Shapes found in nature, non regular.
COMPOSITION: The way in which something is put together or arranged.
Forms are three dimensional shapes. Because drawings and paintings have only two dimensions, artists must use shadows on the objects themselves as well as cast shadows in order to let the viewer know if the object they are viewing is a form, or a flat shape. If you learn how to create form, you can make everything in your artwork look 3D. Most objects that we have in everyday life are made up of combinations of slightly modified platonic forms.
The goal of our CREATE: Proportion (Hands) lesson is to create a painting that focuses on hands and shows how hands can change the feeling of the overall painting.
It's never too late to start making art, or too early! Our Mini Makers start as young as age 3 and they regularly make wonderful, whimsical creations.
